Endless Summer® Pop Star® Hydrangea
Overview: A hydrangea grown for its compact mophead blooms in pink or blue depending on soil pH.
Mature size: Approximately 3–6 ft. tall and wide.
Sun exposure: Partial to dappled shade; protect from hot afternoon sun
Flowering season: Early to mid-summer
Hardiness: USDA Zones 6–9
Water needs: Average to consistent moisture; good drainage but tolerates occasionally wet soil
Special features: Part of the reblooming Endless Summer® series, which flowers on both old and new wood — so it can still bloom even after a hard winter kills back the older stems. Notably more compact than most bigleaf hydrangeas. Rounded, multi-stemmed shrub; flower color on blue/pink cultivars can shift with soil pH (more acidic soil produces bluer blooms, more alkaline soil produces pinker blooms) — white cultivars are not affected; prune, if needed, before August 1 to avoid removing next year's buds
Wildlife value: Bees and other pollinators
Botanical name: Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bailmacsix'
Category: Shrubs & Trees
