Overview: An anise shrub grown for its glossy dark green foliage and unusual maroon-red, star-shaped spring flowers.

Mature size: Approximately 6–15 ft. tall and 4–8 ft. wide.

Sun exposure: Partial shade to full shade; some cultivars tolerate more sun with consistent moisture

Special features: Florida anise's dark red flowers are more ornamental than the yellow-flowered anise species. Broadleaf evergreen shrub with fragrant foliage, prized by florists for its long vase life; easy-care and adaptable to heavy shade, clay, and wet soil; all parts are poisonous if ingested and this is NOT the source of culinary star anise
